I am surprised though... HP MIK 'is' seemingly an Enterprise Product. It integrates with SCCM/MECM to manage very large numbers of devices in an 'enterprise,'

The forum you have directed me to is for support on printers, individual PC's etc... very much no the same thing.

Hi, I wondered if someone could help.

I have a SCCM/MECM Hierarchy. 1 CAS, 4x Primary Sites. I am tryign to install MIK (SP143045) on all servers. It has been successful on the CAS and one Primary Site. No issues. If I try to install on any of the other 3x Primary Sites I receive an error 26000 which gives little to no useful info. It does refer me to a log file, however.... which gives little to no useful information.

The error specifically says as follows: "Error 26000: An error occurred while trying to install a needed package to Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager. A package install log in the Windows TEMP directory (HPClientSCCM2012Kit-setup.log) may contain more information.

The referred log states as follows;

2024-02-08 14:59:32.869 +00:00 [INF] Installing package HP Client Support Tools 2.1.A.1
2024-02-08 14:59:32.869 +00:00 [INF] Determing if package is already installed
2024-02-08 14:59:32.869 +00:00 [INF] In GetLatestPackageInstalled
2024-02-08 14:59:32.869 +00:00 [INF] Executing query SELECT * FROM SMS_Package WHERE Name LIKE 'HP Client Support Tools'
2024-02-08 14:59:33.469 +00:00 [INF] Existing package detected; overridding existing version.
2024-02-08 14:59:33.469 +00:00 [INF] Copying files to server.
2024-02-08 14:59:33.516 +00:00 [INF] Setting package values.

...before it abruptly terminates. There are no errors at this point in this log only the error from the MIK isntaller which i can only click OK to forcing a rollback of the installation.

Note there are no 'HP Client Support Tools' installed on the server regardless of what it says. At the point of installation that folder does not exist (D:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\OSD\Lib\Packages\Deployment\HP\Client\SupportTools) - It appears just at the point the install fails and the log says its overwriding the existing version.

If anyone can help me with this I would be greatly appreciative, thank you.

As an update to this i have just tried to disable each aspect of MIK module by module. It turns out that its the 'HP Client Support' tool which is generating this error and preventing the installation.

I'm really only interested in this for Patch Assistant, BIOS and TPM settings so i've actually managed to complete the install but i'd still be interested in how to fix this if anyone has any insight. - You never know, I might want this module in the future.

Thanks

Thank you for writing back.

This forum specifically addresses Hewlett-Packard Enterprise products and for HP MIK kit you may have to reach HP inc as both are different companies.
