If you are talking about configuring RAID volume on top of which you willl install Ubuntu 22 and then proceed to install HPE VME, this is possible.
The below comment that you are referring to is for CEPH configiration. The disk that you are usingt for CEPH cannot be a RAID Volume.

//
Do not raid disks on physical servers. Currently, only one data disk may be used, which is given in the DATA DEVICE configuration during cluster setup. In the very near future, an update will be provided to allow multiple data disks to be used. These will be added to the total Ceph storage in one large volume. Until that update, only one data disk may be given in the configuration.
//

I came accross following note lately and I am here to ask that, isnt it possible to build VME clusters with RAID configured physical server hosts?

I have 3 physical servers each with multiple disks (RAID 5 configured storage) and want to build a VME cluster with them.

Do not raid disks on physical servers.
