The simple answer is yes, you can have VM Essentials in a single node without any HA.

The more complete answer is that it will depend on the kind of storage you want to use, the supported architectures would be:

- Local disks: You can use the server's local disks for VM storage

- External NFS datastore: You can mount an external NFS share to use it for your VMs

- External block storage: This is not directly supported, but you could mount an FC or iSCSI LUN directly to the host, mount it in a directory and use that directroy in VME as if it was local storage

Hi team, Is it possible to install VME on a single host for a client who doesn't currently require high availability (HA) but wants to use HPE virtualization instead of VMware? What are the limitations in this case?

Thanks

thanks for the good reply.

Now my question about this is.
We are using local storage.

1 logical volume 2 disks in RAID1 - 400Gb

1 logical volume 6 disk in RAID5 - 3Tb

What is the best way to configure this.

400Gb is for the Ubuntu OS and images

3Tb is for VM's and data

How can I configure this the best way during installation of the Ubuntu installation for 1 host.

Easiest way is to just mount /var to the 3TB volume during install of the HVM Hypervisor. You can change this in the disk setup screen.

This will keep your OS on the 400Gb and will put all the VMs, Virtual Images and Images-in-cache on the 3TB volume. You never risk to run out of disk space on your root disk.

I propose to read https://community.hpe.com/t5/hpe-morpheus-vm-essentials/disk-space-filling-up-on-host-where-vmessentails-console-is/m-p/7252607#M513 to understand the different storage locations in VM Essentials.
