I Can not successfully add VME Host to Manager. During provisionening got the error "Agent installation failed: Failed to install morpheus agent"

I am doing a POC in my MVware Environment and with a 2 Node VME SimpliVity System.

I deployed 1 VME Virtual Host (HVM_Install_24.04_S5Q83-11031) in my VMware Environemt wich runs the Manager VM (Version 8.0.12). There is one extra VME Virtual Host (HVM_Install_24.04_S5Q83-11031) for testing purpose. Every time when I add a VME Host als Single Node Cluster I got the error message "Agent installation failed: Failed to install morpheus agent". Manager and VME Hosts are in the same subnet. I have deployed the Environment serveral times.

I am new to VME and hopefully someone can give me a hint, what I am doing wrong.

The current "workaround" is the following steps on the VME inside over SSH and of course "sudo -i" after the login:

Log in to the Manager VM
Verify the Release file

# ls -l /var/opt/morpheus/package-repos/apt/dists/morpheus/

※ No files existed at this point.

morpheus-ctl stop morpheus-ui
morpheus-ctl reconfigure
Verify the Release file

# ls -l /var/opt/morpheus/package-repos/apt/dists/morpheus/

★ Files were present at this point.

morpheus-ctl start morpheus-ui
Cluster creation successful

that is true. So far for the moment I have seen mostly this issue on virtualized systems as there the startup and response time is a lot more slower compared to the baremetal installs. But the workaround works always.

The error message is really poor. No clue as to why it has failed.

This "workaround" did NOT work for me. I fannied around removing the host and re-adding from the cluster view, then rebooting the host and then attempting to install the agent again to eventually get it to "upgrade" the agent (after the summary page had previously said the agent was "not installed").

I'm not impressed with the documentation for this product.

At least in v8.1.2, I have never experienced this issue.

Previously, when deploying the manager, I used to check whether there were any problems by looking at the last few lines of the following file. However, I do not remember exactly from which version, but the output format changed slightly. Since that version, I have not encountered the issue again.

/var/log/cloud-init-output.log on the manager VM

Therefore, if you are not specifically tied to the current version, you may want to consider trying the latest v8.1.2.
