Library Automation Task - Upgrade VM Client Agent

Has anyone developed an Automation Task that can update the client agent in a VM? I'm talking about the "Actions / Upgrade Agent" or "Actions / Download Agent Script" function for a VM. Thanks.

Yes, that should be possible. If you're referring to an RMM-style Automation Task that performs the same operation as Actions → Upgrade Agent or Actions → Download Agent Script, I'd be interested in seeing how others have implemented it.

The main challenge is getting the correct agent package/script for the VM and running it with the required privileges. A task could potentially download the current installer and perform the upgrade silently, but I'd want to make sure it doesn't interfere with the existing agent service or lose the device's registration.

I'd be OK with a GUI update too. Something in "Cluster / VMs" or "Compute / Virtual Machines" that showed the client agent version and provided an option to multi-select VM's for an upgrade. A Task feels better but anything that would allow mass upgrades would be welcomed. Without it, update day becomes update days.
