Patching of the base Ubuntu operating system is the responsibility of the customer in the case of the standalone version of HPE VM Essentials. HPE VM Essentials will install and hold the required packages (i.e. - KVM, QEMU, OvS, etc.) so that running an apt update will not patch/update the VME associated packages. Updates to the VME associated packages will be performed as part of a VME update process

When HPE VM Essentials console installation is complete. Enter the console with the following command: hpe-vm.
Select keyboard layout/ Time zone to set these.

To set NTP, use this file.

sudo vi /etc/systemd/timesyncd.conf

Running apt update/upgrade on the VME manager is fine. It may ask to restart services though, and you either want to select cancel to skip that or ensure that Morpheus is stopped at that time.

All of the required packages for VME Manager/Morpheus are embedded and not controlled by apt/yum.
Same for NTP and TZ. You can freely change this on the system.

You may stop the morpheus service using.

# sudo morpheus-ctl stop morpheus-ui

Verify the status of the service using.

# sudo morpheus-ctl status

After the update

# sudo morpheus-ctl reconfigure

Verify the status

# sudo morpheus-ctl status
