Question about upgrading HVM Manager.

Hello.

I upgraded from HPE Morpheus VM Essentials v8.0.6 to v8.0.8. I have three questions about the upgrade.

1. Will there be cases in the future where an internet connection will be required when upgrading HVM Manager? (This time, an internet connection was not required, but this may be available to customers in closed environments in the future.)

2. After upgrading HVM Manager, I also upgraded the HVM host agent. Is this the correct way to do this from the GUI, or is there another way?

3. After upgrading the HVM host, I also upgraded the virtual machine agent. Is this necessary? (With VMware, you need to upgrade VMwaretools.)

AFAIK, we also deliver (and will continue to do so a "supplemental" upgrade file next to the real upgrade file. This supplemental file is to be used in environments where the VME Manager has no internet access.
I personally run the "standard" upgrade file and the "supplemental" file with every upgrade.

Procedure: #sudo morpheus-ctl stop morpheus-ui #sudo dpkg -i xxxx.deb #sudo dpkg -i xxxx.supplemental.deb # Optional -- Only for offline upgrades #sudo morpheus-ctl reconfigure

That is the correct way. An alternative way is to run

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade morpheus-vm-node ### This will upgrade only the Morpheus Agent.

But the GUI way is the preferred method

If you have installed the "Morpheus Agent" in your VM's (not needed but a best practice in my personal opinion), you can also upgrade this agent after a VME upgrade. The agent is not always updated with every new release, so best to check the release notes if an agent has been updated in the new release.
Updates are also best done via the GUI.
