Hi,

Can someone help me with this problem.

I have 2 reports generated (by Access 97 on NT 2000 ??? ) and printed to the default printer automatically. However, when the second report is being send to the printer the ERROR message "...can not print. Must set default printer...". There is only one printer set up and it is also set as default.

I had removed and added the printer back to test it and the same problem. The first report printed with no complain, the second can not print without "default printer setting".

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,

I have just checked through Technet, and there are a few docs describing situations where Access can show this problem:

PSS ID Number: Q224148
PSS ID Number: Q145576
PSS ID Number: Q160123

They are all quite lengthy, and I can email them to you if you require. They should be available on Microsoft's web site.

I have looked at the details of the Q docs, and here is a summary of the causes. Although you seem to have them "covered", it is a good place to start:

PSS ID Number: Q224148
CAUSE
=====

You may receive this error for one of the following reasons:
- No default printer is installed
- A registry key is corrupted
- A printer driver is corrupted

PSS ID Number: Q145576
You do not have a default printer installed.

PSS ID Number: Q160123
You do not have a default printer installed.
