topic Windows could not retrieve information about the disks in this computer in Operating System - Microsoft

I get this when loading W2K8-with-SP1 onto a DL580G5. After the first reboot, regardless of the fact that it found all the SAN drives connected properly, and regardless of the fact that I F6'd in the P400 driver, I'm getting installation failure with "Windows could not retrieve information about this disks in this computer."

Is this because there is an HP diagnostics partition on the computer from an as yet fully functional install, via Smart Start, of Windows Server 2003 SP2? I was hoping not to wipe it out becuase I can't get my copy of Windows 2008 (from image.wim) to play nicely with Smart Start x64 8.15.

I just revv'ed the BIOS to September 2008. Anybody know anything about this?
