Sorry, somehow I missed your question. Yes, the router setting is the same as "default gateway".

Make a great day!

Roger

Sorry, i'm new to Servers and server 2008.
1) We have a router that works, can see internet. (192.168.1.1). DHCP is disabled now in router.
2) in WS2008, DHCP service is enabled, with scope set, and workstations get DHCP address from server.

But the DHCP computers cannot get to internet.
Ipconfig /all on the workstations reveal there is no Gateway.
If I manually configure a Workstation with gateway 192.168.1.1 (the router), it works OK.

How do I define the gateway for DHCP computers?
Is it in DNS? I can't find it anywhere in WS2008.
Hi:

It's one of the 'Options' in DHCP. Look in Admin Tools to open DHCP.

Make a great day!

Roger

I went to MMC for DHCP, and under 'server.options' there is a huge list, but nothing specific to Gateway. But I did see one for router address, would this be where I put the address of the router, with the router defined with IP and gateway of the DSL provider?
Hi Sammy Mah,
If you are looking for steps, look below:-
1) Open DHCP Console on win2k8 server
2) Expand the scope that you have created
3) Right Click on Scope options and select "Configure options"
4) In the General TAB, select option "003 router" and add the Ipaddress of your gateway. This option would define Default Gateway on the clients.
5) Once done, you can renew Ipaddress on clients to obtain the gateway setting from DHCP.

Hope this Helps.
