When I attempt to log onto the HP DL320g6 server running Server 2008 using the Avocent KVM, the keyboard becomes unuseable and log in is impossible.

When I switch the server for a HP DL 360, I can log in fine.

Also when I use a normal mouse and keyboard I can log into the 320g6 server.

It just appears to be incompatible with this KVM, has anyone else come across this?

Hi Michael

When I found that the HP360 worked I tested all the cables, I logged in fine each time.

This would appear to be confined to the 320 and the KVM as I am also able to log in to workstations using the KVM and the same cable.

Thanks for responding, really appreciate that.

Paul

Hi

The Cable used has a VGA adpter on the KVM end, on the server side there is a VGA adaptor, PS2 Keyboard connector and a USB mouse connector that has a PS2 adaptor attached.

I have found a support thread which indicates there are known issues, I shall attempt the firmware updates and post the outcome : )

Thanks for the replies.

Try logging into your G6 server and set the video resolution to 800x600, then retry the KVM connection. Some KVMs won't support very high video resolutions. If that seems to correct the connection problem, then search the Avocent website for a firmware upgrade for your KVM.

Make a great day!

Roger
