I just wiped and loaded 2008 svr R2 64bit on an ML350 G5 and need to upgrade it's 4gb to 16gb RAM with two new kits of Kignston KTH-XW667/8g but the motherboard just beeps when installed. Updated the bios to 2010 and still won't work. Tested the RAM in a different brand of server and works fine. Anything necessary to increase RAM?

Yes, full aware of the specs and where the pairs belong. I can install and run with each kit individually but when I install together the alarm goes off. I can install either 8gb kit with the old 4 gb kit and run but it will not take both 8gb kits together.

Problem Solved. I purchased ANOTHER kit of the same RAM hoping it would work with one of my existing and viola, it did. Something very odd with this server that I had to find a winning combination of RAM kits to make it work. I could get two kits to run individually but not when loaded together. As stated before, all of the kits worked in a different server.

Good to know that a different kit solved the issue.<BR />You can close this thread if the issue is solved.
