Windows Serevr 2008 - SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition installation failure (Error # 29503)

Dear Experts,

I have been trying to install SQL Server 2005 enterprise edition on my Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition. Hardware specs are:

- BL465 G6 Server with 1 x 6 Core AMD Opteron processor

Whenever i try to install the SQL Server it fails on on starting the SQL Database Services. I came across a number of resolutions (which worked for other people) but none helped me, some are:

1- Install SQL Server with default options and then create your own instance. For me it does not even install with the default options
2- I came across this KB (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954835) however none of the methods detailed in it worked.

In all the scenarios the installation fails with the same error. Now i am not sure what to do. I would be very grateful if someone can help me out with this.
