upgrading win 98 to win 2000 for 8750c HP PC

I have a 8750c HP Pavallion PC.It comes with win'98 OS. I tried to install win 2000. It's not detecting Modem and Sound cards. Please can anyone help in this regard.Where can I get the suitable drivers.

Hello,

I don't believe there are any HP drivers available for the Pavilion 8750 and Windows 2000 since it is not supported on the Pavilion PCs. I did find a document that might help you out.

I would begin by installing the latest BIOS (v2.07) available from:

http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hppavilion21023_swen.html

Then I would download and have available for the WIN2K upgrade the following Chameleon WIN2K driver: (I am not absolutely certain this IS the correct driver, so proceed cautiously)

http://www.hp.com/cposupport/personal_computing/software/camhsf2k.exe.html

Also, keep in mind that HP does NOT support this configuration!

Sambasiva, you could try this phone number: 661- 257-5565. HP now has a Win2000 disk available for a nominal fee that includes the drivers for a number of HP models. I believe the part number is 5065-8649. Good luck with things!

You hit the two big items which typically a manufacturer references when they say they do not support Win2K or NT on a "home" machine. I ran into it with Compaq Presario models. Most "home" machines use a version of Winmodem and onboard sound. Win2K will NOT support Winmodems. When I upgraded Presario 4880, I replaced Winmodem with USRobotics, disabled their sound system and installed old SoundBlaster.
