DL385 will it run 2008 ?

Hi,

I have a second hand DL385 ( no gen markings so I guess gen1 )

2x dual opteron 280 64 bit, 16gb ram, p600 raid .

Will this run 2008 . I am worried to go and buy 2008 and find it will not work .

It's a litlle bit confused. Acc.the HP OS support matrix - it is not supported.

But, if You check for drivers for win 2008 , You will find those.

I think, it will works, but I cannot give You an official statement about that.

The DL385 is an AMD 64-bit server, so it should run both 2008 and 2008 R2 with no issues. Unfortunately, the OS support matrix only goes back to the G2 and it sounds like you've got the G1. The Drivers & Support section on HP's site lists Windows Server 2008 x64 as a supported OS for this model, but not R2 (because this model is probably 6+ years old). I guess it all depends on whether you'll ever need to open a support call with HP if you run into a problem.
