Hello,

I have installed windows server 2022 standard on DL20 Gen11 (2disk and RAID1).

I would like to change C drive disk volume from windows server 2022 disk management.

There is 8TB SSD disk and C-Drive has 3.6TB volume now, and there is less additional file because just installing windows server 2022.

'Size of available shrink space in MB is 0.... Why?

I have tried some operation to resolve this problem.. (Deactive paging file, hybernation, system resotore and defrag.) But there is still problem..

Can someone give me good countermeasure for this issue?

Regards,

Hi @KID2 ,

1) Are you sure that the Windows installation is proper ?
2) Have you installed or upgraded the Operating system over another OS ? This may take more space, need fresh OS to be installed.
3) Check for the directory: c:\windows.old. This directory is created when during some Windows install. It allows for a rollback to the previous version. It is safe to delete.

Regards,
Shiva_JR

Thank you for your reply.

> 1) Are you sure that the Windows installation is proper ?
> 2) Have you installed or upgraded the Operating system over another OS ? This may take more space, need fresh OS to be installed.

Yes, I think the windows installation operation should be correct. And It is initial windows os(win server 2022) installation..

Regards,

Hello @KID2

Good day.

The reason you are unable to shrink the C drive could be due to unmovable files, such as system files, that are located at the end of the current partition. Even though you've disabled paging, hibernation, and system restore, certain files might still prevent shrinking.
