If I create a bootdisk by doing a "format a: /s" will that bootdisk enable the CD-Rom or not?

Hello Kurt,

No, a DOS format /s will only put the DOS boot files on the floppy. If you need to specify any drivers, you would need to specify the drivers in the autoexec.bat/config.sys and also put the driver itself on the floppy.

There are several steps involved so here is a great Microsoft article that should help you out.

The article was written for a different issue but it has a good explanation of how to get the cdrom driver setup.
