Well.... With 9x, ME NT 4 and 2000, you can set the taskbar to Auto-hide. But I haven't seen a way to simply hide the systray area.

On XP though, the Notify area is automatically set to hide icons that have not been accessed for a while.

Jon
Anyone know how to hide the systray (other than shrinking the task bar)?

What operating system are you using? If your systray is taking up your whole tool bar, you can install systrayx at:

http://www.systrayx.com/info.html

I think that you have a trial period of thirty days and if you like it then you can pay $15.

XP has this feature as well, to configure this, right-click in the Win XP systray and choose Customize Notifications. Select an item and then pick from the three options in the drop-down list.

Brian
