Why do I get error message (Blue Screen) that the bios does not support ACPI after additional memory is installed. M300 runs fine under W2K with the onboard 64meg. I'm just trying to add 256meg of additional ram. Installing Kingston KTC311/256LP as instructed by Kingston. The Armada M399 model number is AM3 P3500T1X12C64N2. I installed all the latest updates from Compaq including the latest Bios and power management. Anyone out there with similar issues?
Please help.
Thanks
Rick

Rick:

Maybe the 'Power Management' whatever you installed is causing your problem. Try Control Panel/Add-Remove Software to remove it and see where you are.

Roger

Thanks Roger.
I installed and disabled any Power Management services multiple times with no change in results. I started digging on Microsoft???s support site to find a document Q216573 regarding the ACPI installation and how to disable it before the re-installation of 2000. I will try that next.
I've read here:
http://www.memoryx.net/pc6-1921.html
that the maximum memory supported by M300 is
128 mb, maybe that's the problem.
Can anyone confirm this?

According to www.crucial.com, the 333MHz M300 will support 256MB and the 450MHz and 500MHz will support 320MB.

Roger

I've an M300 500MHz, it's got 64M built in and with 128M added shows 192M in bios and is fine.
Replace the 128 with 256M, bios wants me to press F1 'cos it know the RAM has changed, then shows 320M - so far so good - but then I'm stuck in the XP blue screen problems or W98 'extended loader' problems, and can't get any further. I thought the PC could take 256 = 320M but I'm begining to think it wont - strange that the bios seems happy, but wont let me load a system - ho hum
James
