What version of windows are you running?

If using nt, 2000 or xp then make sure ntfs permissions are set. In ntfs permissions, remove all users that you don't want to access this folder apart from the person you want to give permission to (make sure they have full access and remove the tick from "inherit from parent"). Remove the everyone group.
Note that the admin can take ownership of the folder!

Hi John,

If you are part of a workgroup (as opposed to a domain), you can create a user account on the computer containing the folder you are sharing and assign a password to the user account. If you are accessing the folder from a WinXP, you will be prompted for a username and password - just used the new user and password created.

Hi, John,

In Windows XP

If you compress the folder, you can password protect.

Double click on the compressed folder
Click on File
Click on Add a Password
In the Password Box, type the password you want to use
Type the same password in the Confirm Password Box
Click Ok

Note that when you attempt to move or open a password-protected file, a Password Needed dialog box appears. Type the correct password in the Password box, and then click OK.

Pat
