Not able acces all CDs from my CD rom

I have a compaq armada m700 laptop that has window 2000 proffessional installed on it, I am not able to access all the cd's from my cd drive somehow, I really couldn't understand why I am able to read some CD's and not others. Anybody has an idea why this is happening? I really need to read some cds, Thanks.

Hi Vijay,

What kind of error you get (if any)? may be your CD drive's lens got some dust over it, you can try by cleaning it with a lens cleaning cloth or any soft cotton cloth, softly wipe out the lens. it is also possible that it is a hardware porblem in CD drive.

Hi kcpant, Thanks for your suggestion, Actually I am not getting any error, my point is some cd's are working, some are not, I tried wiping the the lense with soft cloth, but of no use. Actaully for some cd's it is reading half of the cd, after that it's stucting up there, it' really weired, Please let me know, what i need to do. I think it's some kind of drivers problem, Thanks.

Possibly your CD ROM is 12x or max 24x speed, If Cd in burned copy with higher speed level than max in your Laptop it might not see it very well, also to that it really depend from Cd brand. If you have problem with Original Cd, most likely Cd Rom need replacement.
