compaq presario V2000 - having problems using in China

Hi all,
I'm in the states, but my brother is over in China right now and is having a problem with his laptop. Here is what he sent:
"could you try to find out if there is anything special i need to do for my laptop to get it to work in china. it won't get on the internet. i don't know if it's the actual laptop, or if the software can't understand stuff. the other kids with laptops have been able to get on just fine! i have a compaq presario V2000 running on windows XE or 2000". Does this sound like a software issue? Any suggestions/thoughts are appreciated!

Hi Victoria,

there are no difference in network connection based on the reigons, however it can be different based on home network to office network. here is microsoft website for internet connection procedure.
