Hi guys,

Do you know what is the best way to do this:

I want to ftp "filename" from a location to my pc but I want to rename the filename as filename01, filename02 so on so that it will not overwrite the previous file.

regards
Henry

your ftp may implement the "runique" option.
If you receive multiple copies of a.txt then it will call them a.txt.1 a.txt.2 etc.
up to a.txt.99
Phil

The standard ms one doesn't implement all ftp options, there a number of gui versions (eg. filezilla) or command line versions (ftp://ftp.gnu.org/old-gnu/emacs/windows/contrib/ftp-for-win32.zip) that are freely available.
Phil
