CPU fans seesm to be on a lot

Is there a reason why my CPU fans and case fans seems to be running a lot?
I can understand if I am running a program or something. but when the PC is idle, it turns on and off. this occurs very often.
Wanted to know if this is normal or perhaps overheating in progress. XP runs fine and so does everything else.

It is normal for your fans to be running constantly. Some fans can adjust their speed based on CPU usage and temperature. If your PC was overheating, Windows might do some strange things, like reboot

Some systems exhibiting such problems can be corrected with a BIOS upgrade. Some systems have monitoring software (OS or BIOS-based) that can be adjusted). Or you may have a heat-related issue. Have you checked all the vent holes on your system for dust accumulation?

I want to add to my original question.
My fans seems to go into a high speed mode.
the constant speed is normal which is fine because its not 'koud'.
but when it kicks into the next speed which is spinning fast. its loud and that the part I get annoyed.
I guess I can get new quiet fans. but for now, its annoying to hear those fans kick into turbo mode.

Take your vacuum and put a plastic attachment
on the hose so not to ever touch metal on metal. Unplug your PC and remove cover to clean. Clean any dust from the CPU fan and the power supply fan. Be carfull not to bend the blades on the CPU fan.
Clean the RAM and gently vacuum the mother board. Any dust will act like a blanket when it come to heat.

You can add fan monitors that are freebee software to check your PC fan speeds.

IF you feel your PC is getting too hot you may add a secondary fan but 99% of the time it is not necessary unless you have modified the PC from the way it came from the factory.
