Hi,

I just recently purchased the HP Pav. DV5000 laptop which came with Windows Home Edition. Everything worked fine till i upgraded to the Win XP PRO SP2 edition.

Now, When i playback audio in winamp, WMP etc the mp3 skips, not contantly, but frequently enough. I've checked my ram etc and i definitely have enough memory (plus, this is a new laptop).

This problem also happens when i play movies/clips where the audio crackles and skips.

If anyone could offer any insight how to rectify this i would really appreciate it.

I've read a bit about IRQ conflicts and maybe that's my problem? Although i have no idea what to do if there is conflicting devices ( i've listed my IRQs below)

IRQ 0 System timer OK
IRQ 1 Quick Launch Buttons OK
IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock OK
IRQ 9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System OK
IRQ 12 Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad OK
IRQ 13 Numeric data processor OK
IRQ 14 Primary IDE Channel OK
IRQ 15 Secondary IDE Channel OK
IRQ 17 ATI MOBILITY RADEON Xpress 200 Series OK
IRQ 17 Conexant AC-Link Audio OK
IRQ 17 AC97 Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP OK
IRQ 19 Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller OK
IRQ 19 Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller OK
IRQ 19 Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller OK
IRQ 20 Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Cardbus Controller OK
IRQ 20 SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller OK
IRQ 21 Broadcom 802.11a/b/g WLAN OK
IRQ 22 Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC OK
IRQ 23 Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller OK
IRQ 23 Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller OK
Hello:

For best results, post in the following forum, as well as here:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/categoryhome.do?categoryId=411

I don't know the specific cause of your problem, but I would suggest installing anything newer than what presently is installed on your computer, from here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=499849#

If you're confused about that page, try the 2 links near the top of the page (just above the "Microsoft Windows XP" blue bar.

Make a great day and happy holidays.

Roger
