Hey Rob,
The patch was not the solution, yesterday microsoft sent me the patch, I installed it but at night the system shutdown again. The event viewer logged the same:

The previous system shutdown at 1:16:43 AM on 4/17/2007 was unexpected.

and

Event ID 1001
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0x80000003, 0x8045b2f0, 0x00000000, 0xbc517948). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195].
Hi: Have you installed SP4 and the Post-Sp4 Rollup?

This article is interesting since the DL580 fits the performance description (particularly if it's an X7140M variant) and for the fact that Microsoft offers no solution. I imagine they expect one to move to W2K3 to resolve this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924439/en-us#appliesto

How are these servers being used in the middle of the night? Web-server, backup server, etc. Anything in the application log? Have you tried the latest PSP? See: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_6222.html

Make a great day!

Roger
Thanks Roger for your reply. Yes, the server has SP4.
The server is used at night. Is an application server where we run Cotrol M a BMC software.

There isn't nothing in the apllication log, only in the system log.

DL580 G4, error bugcheck: 0x0000001e
Question Hi, I have a DL580 G4 server and everyday the server has an unexpected reboot.
Hi Roger,
Microsoft has examined the server dump and the conclusion was the same that in your last answer about kb 924439. I have a very fast Windows 2000-based computer that has a large L3 cache
There isnt a patch, so I need W2k3 or a new patch for wind 2k.

Thanks for your attention.

Regards
