Howdy,

As mentioned in a previous thread, I'm new to LeftHand and have a question regarding firmware. 1) Do I need to upgrade firmware (assuming yes) 2) how do I go about upgrading the P4500 G2 firmware. If it is built on a proliant platform can I boot off the firmware maint CDROM?

Thanks!

Typically you'll wait for the LHN Team to recommend the firmware upgrades (which they had for the ones I suggested to you in the previous thread).

But yes, you use the firmware maintenance CD. You can look at the patch list and they will typically link to a firmware upgrade CD for some of the suggested patches. What version of SAN/iQ are you on? Or you can call HP/LHN support and they'll point you in the right direction as well.

For some of the firmware updates, you'll need to drop them on a USB and click the "Add Supplemental" button to import them when you boot to the firmware maintenance CD.

Here's a link to the User Guide for the CD:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01984759/c01984759.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

I'm running 8.5.00.0319.0 on all nodes. I did find a patch page that lists all firmware ana patchesâ ¦

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3936161&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=3936136&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=54

but it doesnâ t list any firmware updates for all components (Example iLO). Am I safe to upgrade the iLO from the firmware maintenance CDROM. I would feel more comfortable if they would list it on the above update page.
You are fine with updating iLO. It's not a component of the SAN/iQ software (though I've heard rumors that they may add some sort of support in the future).

No worries there. I'm running a number of G2's with the updated iLO if it makes you feel any better.

I believe I am on 1.87. 1.94 is the latest version that has been released.

If you want to see the latest version, it is here along with downloads if you want to pull it:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=397991&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=397989&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1064
I stand corrected, thank you Uwe. I've never looked specifically for the iLO firmware. I just take whatever is given via the Proliant Firmware Maintenance CD.
