Perfect. This worked as stated and the resync on power-on took just a few minutes for around 22 TB.

For others' benefit, this Youtube video shows the steps to replace the cache battery:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWBlffkLgZM

Hi

I need to replace a failed cache battery (Capacitors) on one 4730 in a 2 system cluster / Management Group with Failover Manager. Lefthand OS 12.7, Event: EID_BPS_FAULTY E01020407.

I believe we meet the criteria in this doc https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c04858555 and attempt to Repair but get the error "The storage system is operating normally and cannot be repaired using the Repair Storage System process"

I understand I can follow the steps here https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=kc0112618en_us to stop the storage system using CLIQ.

My question is - should I use the CLIQ procedure to avoid a restripe - or can I just Power Off instead? If I power off, will the Repair process then work anyway? Or will a Power off require a restripe when I power back on?

All the docs I find are about RAID repair. My RAID is fine - I just need to change a battery in one system. Should be a 10 minute job, but I'm confused about how to do this gracefully.

Any advice appreciated - please let me know if anyone needs further information, thanks.

Hello GSMDIT,

Make shore the other node has a manager running and just power off the node where the cache backup capacitor is failed and replace it. That's all.
The node will resync the data it missed from the other node after it comes back online.
