topic Re: Coordinating Manager? in StoreVirtual Storage

Hello,

This may help.

In the smallest of environments ie two nodes there should be a minimum of three managers. Two physical (runnning on each node/VSA) and one Failover Manager(FOM) running elsewhere / worst case a Virtual FOM running on one of your physical nodes (however this would reduce availablity if this particular node failed). I find the VIP normally starts on the node first node I places into management group. The managers act to ensure the cluster in quorate.

Colin

Coordinating Manager?

Hello,

Can anyone provide some insight on the functions of the coordinating manager? I have read all my VSA documentation and the help section in the CMC, but I do not see much info other than how to identify who is the coordinating manager.

I thought the coordinating manager might hold the VIP, but I have seen instances where the VIP is on a different node than the coordinating manager.

Thanks!

Thanks. I understand the requirements for quorum and the number of managers needed. I was just curious what the responsibilities of the coordinating manager were.
