Is this possible?
I don't have a separate management group for my test boxes, and really don't like the idea of sending 9.0 to every node in the management group untested in my environment.
Apologies for the "me too" reply, but you're not alone on this one. Even with the advanced upgrade mode, I don't see how to upgrade single nodes.

The actual upgrade process appears to only reboot one node at a time, but it feels awkward to plan to cancel out of the CMC's upgrade process if something goes wrong... would that leave the SAN in a "worse" state for completing the upgrade?

I have the same feelings after my problems with updating to SANIQ_9...

I am in the process of creating several VSA's to test these upgrades outside of the cluster/managementgroup.

That is the only thing i can think of to avoid these nasty problems....

Call support on this one. There is a hidden Support Upgrades menu they can access to enable patching/upgrading of individual machines. It is important to actually log a call on this one. If we all call, then perhaps they will unhide the functionality in the next patch of the CMC.
