SmartStart Firmware CD?

Support are suggesting I use the SmartStart Firmware CD to ensure the iLO/RAID/HDD/BIOS etc. are up to date on our P4300/P4500 G2s.

Only thing is they aren't listed on the support matrix for the firmware CD/DVD, yet there is a PDF title " P4300 and P4500 Firmware Compatibility Matrix" which suggests to download and apply the SmartStart CD.

So basically, as usual, the documentation is rather contradictory :)

Has anyone used the SmartStart Firmware CD and did you have any issues with it?

I've asked support for more details on confirming it is supported.

Hey Paul,

I've had the same advise from support before. I too was quite surprised to hear this. However this caused no issue's, and if my memory serves me well it even solved the problem I was having back then.

Thanks Joris. Support suggested the 9.3 SmartStart is the recommended one.

I know the P4000 is a DL180 but I was sure I'd read it was a custom board or something, but support were adamant that it's supported to use SmartStart to update the firmwares.

there is a new driver firmware DVD from HP at

www.hp.com/go/spp this includes the firmwares you need

also the files you download from the LH CMC interface includes also firmware updates
