Changing volume network protection from Raid 5 to Raid 10

Dear Sir,

Is there any risk i edit the volume network protection level from raid 5 to raid 10?

For performance factor on vmware, should I use thin or thick for volume?

only thing to be mindful of is performance while the restripe takes place. There is no loss of redundancy during the operation, but it can take a long time to complete depending on the size of the volume, the current system load and the speed of the cluster.

Definitely use thin provisioning and unless you plan on taking the cluster offline I would make sure you keep the cluster traffic speed set at default or possibly slow it down if you see your application latency start to rise too much.

Will convert to Raid 10 for network protection level increase the performace?

Because currently on and off see vmware report storage latency in event.

it will definitely be better.

One of the guides talks about network raid 5 as really only suitable for bulk storage usage. You should definitely switch off of NR5 for a vmware LUN.
