Adding New Storage Nodes

Hi, I added a couple of nodes to a standrd cluster to make it a 4 node cluster last week and afterwards no volume striping took place, the nodes were added to the cluster and that was that.

At the weekend I added 2 nodes to a 4 node multi site cluster and a very long restriping process (3 days) took place afterwards.

Did the restriping process take place because of the type of cluster (standard or multi site) ?

Can anyone explain the technicalities behind this?

PS- I have searched through the HP documentation on this matter but cannot find anything other than the process of how to add storage nodes to a cluster.

it depends on how/where you add the nodes how much data needs to be restriped, but you should have seen at least a minor restrip on the original cluster as well.

There may have been a small time frame of re-striping, but nothing significant.

The re-striping on the multi-site cluster has took 3 days to complete so I'm trying to find out why it's occurred on one cluster and not the other?
