topic hpasmd process not dying in Operating System - VMware

Just installed PSP 8.70 and noticed when the esx4.1 server goes into standby or tries to reboot it gets stuck at shutting down hpasmd. This is evendenced across all servers in the cluster.

As a workaround I have added -9 to the kill command line in the stopproc function in ./etc/init.d/hphealth which kills the pid.

I really don't have time to do much more and if the process is hung it should be handled better than it is. Leaving the servers in this state is unacceptable.

mark
