SBS2011 Standard on ESXi

Hi,
I am trying to install HP OEM version of Small Business Server 2011 Standard as a VM on a HP Prolient ML115 G5 running ESXi 4.0.
The install starts but fails when "Validating HP Platform" with "This System is Not a Supported Platform".

Has anyone come accross this before?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello,
this OEM os is not pointed to run in VM under ESX or other virtualization platform.

you have to use it on hw you bough with os licence...

Thanks for your reply.
This is a new server and the OS in the HP OEM ROK version so it should install on any hardware even a hypervisor.

I have found an advisory detailing the same issues when installing SBS 2008 on a hypervisor. It states that the problem is with the OEM media which will be replaced by HP. Although in my case HP have told me to contact VMware as the problem is with the hypervisor.

I think you mean http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01772206 ? So hp should replace the media acording this KB...

To solve the problem of installing Windows Server from HP OEM Media on VMware:

Power off the virtual machine

Edit settings, Options, General, Contiguration Parameters

Add a new row:

SMBIOS.reflectHost=TRUE

Verified with DL360p gen8, ESXi 5,5, Small Business Server 2011
