Small or Branch Office Server with VMware

Hi, I am trying to design a simple and cost-effective solution for our small business customers. I like the idea of using a MicroServer in these environments, but I would want the server to run a current version of ESXi. My experience is that ESXi will only work with certain storage controllers. Plus, it would be nice to be able to use RAID5 or RAID6 in this. So my question is two parts:

1. Has anyone here successfully installed vSphere on a MicroServer with RAID?

2. Can we install a VMware-compatible Smart Array controller in a MicroServer so we can install and use vSphere?
