I want to perform a offline upgrade of a ProLiant DL360 Gen9 to the latest esx custom version, preserving the datastore content, from esx custom hpe image: April 2022 vSphere 7.0 U3 Build 19482537 (april 2022); to VMware-ESXi-7.0.3-20036589-HPE-703.0.0.10.9.1.5-Jul2022 (latest). The esx is disconnected from the vcenter.

since I haven't found any particular documentation about the upgrade process in the case of custom images, I will follow these steps:

1) update firmware with the latest compatible spp;

2) boot from the new esx custom image iso and select the "upgrade esxi, preserve VMFS datastore" option.

After the reboot, all the drivers and hpe addons should be updates.

Is this the correct process?
