sh patch_name will do.
After unsharing it will create 2 files patch_name and patch_name.text, .text file will contain the details about the patch.

you would use the sh command

For example:

#sh PHCO_24446

You should notice two files now.
A .depot and .text file(I believe)

Just to note, the patch and text descriptioni of the patch will be expanded into your current directory. Make sure that you have the space for both.

Also, you can expand into a different directory by moving your patch archive, and issuing a cd to a directory where you want the patches.

I.E.

mv /PHCO_99999 /archive/PHCO_99999
cd /tmp
sh /archive/PHCO_99999

Your /tmp/ directory will then have both patch and text file.

sh patchname

will give you
patchname.txt
patchname.depot

Run swinstall to install the patch:
swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true -s /tmp/patchname.depot

Also before you can install the depot you will need to do an swcopy and copy the software into a software depot. Then you can install the software with swinstall.

Pssst! Don't tell anybody!! It's already a depot - that's what unsharing it gives you. There's no *requirement* to swcopy it into a depot.

HP-UX 11.00

make sure you unset UNIX95 variable if you use this variable prior to running the sh command.

It has caused checksum errors depending on how well patched you are.
