Install the BIND by using swinstall

Hello, I need to learn how to install the PHNE_27792.depot (BIND) on 10.20 by using swinstall. I read the instruction but it said "Install PHNE_27792.depot using swinstall" but I remember I saw somewhere that will show me with full command. I appreciate your help.

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true -s /absolute-path-to-the-depot-file

in 11.x the match_target should be changed to patch_match_target=true

Is that for 10.20? Correct on me if I did right type:

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true -s /PHNE_27792.depot

After installed, that is it?

Which one is better?

1) swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true -s /PHNE_27792.depot

2) swinstall -s /full/path/to/PHNE_22792.depot \*

Will #1 reboot automatic by itself? If I pick #2 then I have to reboot by manual?

I prefer #1 (for a 10.20 system) because a re-boot will automatically be performed if it is required by the patch.

I don't think there is a reboot required for Bind patch. But I can't find a patch with the id you told us. Where did you get it from?

Hello Thomas,

yes I found it now :-)

Since the patch includes only one fileset and should not require a reboot there is no difference between both ways.

Of course it's better to use patch_match_target to really only install the filesets required for this system but since these kinds of patches normally have only one fileset my way is shorter to type :-)

Ok, once I see 'Reboot require' then I will type 'autoreboot=true' but this patch file isn't require to reboot therefore I have to type 'autoreboot=false' or nothing. Right? Hope this one is last question! Smile.

The reboot=true option will only reboot if it is required.

could not find your patch, did a search on google what version of bind was in your patch, after that HP search patches, 10.20 with 4.9.7 and found this patch.

Ha, no I work for Government and they gave me the Document Description 'SSRT2408' with PHNE_27792.depot. BUT you gave me PHNE_23277... What is different?

Right now, I am using 10.20 with BIND 4.9.3. Need to update from 4.9.3 to 4.9.7.
