Installing JAVA on HP-UX 11

It looks to me that I will be entering a whole new world in UNIX. I need to install JAVA on my machine (in order to install IDS/9000). I do not know anything about it. Any help with tips and "how to" would be appreciate.
I need to know what version should I install.

You can find all the versions of Java for HP here : http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/java/
In my case, I was able to install and run IDS/9000 with Java 2 SDK and RTE version 1.3. You can download the Java version as well on that site.

I think somebody already gave you a URL, but just in case:

That's the latest, greatest version available from HP. I'd go with that. Installation is straightforward - just swinstall. And I really think that's all there is to it, though I haven't tried it with IDS.

Hi Miro:

What version of OS are you running.

I installed HPUX 11i and it came with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.2.2. Since then I've installed IBM WebSphere software and it upgraded my JRE to 1.3.1.01.

I'm running HP-UX 11.00 and Im not sure if it came with Java or not. Command swlist Java givin me back that software Java is not installed.

Hi Miro:

HPUX 11i comes bundled with Java, Apache, Netscape, and other applications needed to setup a webserver. You may want to look into upgrading to this version depending on other applications running your box, what you need to do.

Install the required and recommended patches.

I must have missed the Java install option on 11i(11.11) because I had to do it after installation.
