Can you tell us your doman name?

Can you upload the error message and your smb.conf file.

In some circumstances the NT/2000 Network Administrator needs to assign an account to the HP-UX machine for full browser networking to work.

in smb.conf you need to have your domain correct.

# workgroup = NT-Domain-Name or Workgroup-Name, eg: REDHAT4
workgroup = juf.net

That's ours.

Steve

Thomas you dont seem to have set a security level, is this correct.
also are you trying to authenticate on unix or NT.
i currently run 6 servers which authenticate to NT and are visible in the Network neighbourhood.
can you explain better your requirements.
One thing i don't know wether you have tried( only if you are trying to authencate from NT PDC) is to create a windows server entry on the PDC and then try running smbpasswd -j DOMIAN NAME -r PDC NAME.
this will then register the entry on NT but may not show for a few minutes depending on how frequently your PDC updates.

We have an unixnetwork and a linuxnetwork and windows 2k computer. The linuxserver is a PDC. The unixserver is only to share some dir's. We have set the security level "user", so that one must enter a password (or?), if one use a share.
