Filesystem /usr/openv is good to have separate from /usr, because there are kept database (Master server) and log files after usual NetBackup installation and they can growing really a lot. I usually map log directories into /var by symlinks. Check /usr/openv/netbackup/logs, /usr/openv/volmgr/debug, /usr/openv/java/logs and /usr/openv/netbackup/db/error.

On NetBackup master server are databases in /usr/openv/netbackup/db and /usr/openv/volmgr/database. On Media servers and clients those db files do not grow.

What about rights on /usr/openv/var than I have on my HP-UX 11.00, Solaris8 and NetBackup 3.4 everywhere root:others.

Regards,
Pavel

Hi:

Our /usr filesystem is 74% full while 3 others with similar configurations are around 31% (same config all m/c's). we are running netbackup but that is on a seperate filesystem /usr/openv. wonder why? Also i found on the netbackup master machine (nclass)the permissions under /usr/openv/, var was owned by root and the group was "other" (all other boxes has root:sys). Also all the directories under /usr/openv/var was owned the same way. What effects ot could have. Since this is a production box we have to be careful. Please advise.

Thanks

David.

Check what type of logging you have enabled for netbackup. Netbackup logging can take up a lot of space.

HTH
Marty
