Were on a N4000 running 11.0. In other words can someone tell me where this message is coming from. Thankyou in advance for your help.

Legato Storage Manager media: (critical) backup tape pool 'Default' waiting fro 1 writable backup tape(s)

used to have the same message on a N4000, then saw it appear on a K580 box ... both after oracle 8x was installed ..i do not remember ever seeing it in the swlist however ..the DBA at the time told me he could remove it but never did
so my guess is something in the oracle admin can remove that

Jim

This is clearly an outcome of Oracle installation. If you are not using this for backup solution, then remove it using 'swremove' or from Oracle installer.

For temporary solution, kill all nsr daemons:

# ps -aef | grep nsr

If you don't want to remove the software, but want to resist this from starting while booting, then check for /sbin/init.d/networker file and remove it along with it's rc links.

I agree with Sridhar. It got installed with Oracle. I think one has to uncomment legato installation while installing Oracle.
Anil has the correct answer. After you have stopped the process, remove it from the startup sequence

cd /sbin/init.d/rc2.d
mv S900networker s900networker

cd ../rc0.d
mv K200networker k200networker

Renaming these from S & K (caps) to lower case s & k will prevent them from running at startup.
