Hi,
after a lot of testing it won't work anyway :o(.

@Leif
- no other devices connected; only the standalone
DLT7000 (no Libr.).
- tried other cable, no change.
- tried other term, system needs very long to do a ioscan -f
- drive on another computer isn't possible, because of
different connectors (rp2405).

@Tom
all drivers are configured correctly, but SAM can't find any tape ?!

@ALL
is it possible that the DLT7000 is a high voltage device, which cannot connect
to the LVD / SE ext. SCSI port of the J6700 ?
Before the drive was connected to a D380 with special controller A2874-66005.

Thx.
Claus

Hello,
i want to connect a DLT7000 Tape to a J6700 on SCSI C896 Ultra2 Wide Single Ended controller.
I have implemented the scsi tape driver into the kernel, but an ioscan -f won't find any tape or unknown device ?

What's wrong ?

I think unclaimed is expected at least to start with : take a look at http://ovweb.external.hp.com/ovnsmdps/pdf/b6960-90058.pdf pages B24 - B31 ... if you still have problems perhaps you could detail exactly what you have attempted thus far ...

Hi Alex,
thank you but that doesn't help me much.
My problem is that I connect the DLT7000 drive to the ext. SCSI SE / LVD port of the J6700 via 68pin cable, but no new or unknown device is listed in ioscan -f ?
I have checked for the driver mentioned in the docu and all are IN.

To check the port I have connected a 50pin DVD Drive (with spezial cable 8 to 16 bit) and it works fine ;-).

Thx.
Claus

Hi,
- Is there other devices connected, (perhaps SCSI-adrass conflict).
- Cable problem (try another cable).
- Bad terminator, wrong terminator type (HWD)?
- Try the drive on another computer (if possible).
Hi Claus:

Even if you don't have the correct driver(s) configured into the kernel, you should be able to see the device with ioscan.

I had a problem connecting a DLT to my J6000. The scsi cable that runs between the library and the tape drive was bad. Try connecting just the library, then just the drive to see if you can see either.

Tom

Hi,
Yes, this card seems to be a differential card. Your drive will not work on a LVD or SE bus.

Hello,

It's not only possible, but you found your problem.

If it was connected to a D-Class and A2874-66005, then your DLT7000 is an HVD device and therefore won't work on your new workstation.

HTH,
Vince
