Cannot install patch PHSS_22868

Hi all! I am trying to install patch PHSS_22868 as recommended by Oracle for prereqs. When I try to install, it fails with this error in the log noted below.

Can anyone explain this please?? Thanks, Mike

The patch fileset "PHSS_22868.ACXX-STDLIB,r=1.0" may only be installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The specification for this base fileset is "ACXX.ACXX-STDLIB,fr=C.03.27,v=HP". Since there is no fileset on the target or selected from the source which matches this specification, fileset "PHSS_22868.ACXX-STDLIB,r=1.0" will be excluded.

Hi,

There is a pre-requisite to have the aC++ compiler loaded first for this patch.
When a patch install bombs out with this type of message, it means that the patch is an add on or patch to a sub-product, in this case a C++ compiler that must already be loaded.
I have Oracle on a couple of systems, this was not an actual requirement. Have a look at the patch requirements here:

Put in the patch number. A screen will apear with the information.

check at the patch description

you need to have any of the aC++ versions to load the patch.

HP aC++ B3910B A.03.25
HP aC++ B3910B A.03.25.01
HP aC++ B3910B A.03.26
HP aC++ B3910B A.03.27

I am not sure whether Oracle recommends this but I think think you should have problem running Oracle without this patch.
