Hi Ken,
One method is to find out from PDC when the system boots terminate the boot option and do a info on mem.
This will tell you about each slot.

Or if you have online diagnostics loaded you can see to stm. select RAM and do an information. You'll see all slots and memroy here.

Rajeev

Unfortunately 10.20 does not provide the same quality of information hardware, as 11 and 11i. Try utilising either 'cstm' of 'xstm' interactively to get the information. I am fairly sure it does not show the spare slots, only the ones occupied. Here is a similar discussion where the information could be found in the PDC. You can only get to this, from booting your system.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x156bdfe5920fd5118fef0090279cd0f9,00.html

to get the cstm or stm or xstm you'll have to load the online diagnostics that come with the support plus CD.

Otherwise there is no other way then rebooting the machine and find the details from PDC.

Cheers
Rajeev

To get the physical memory size u can give
# dmesg |grep -i physical
for getting slot details u have to use cstm or xstm

rgds,
spv
