(end it with a single dot)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;that is it.&lt;BR /&gt;-balaji&lt;/NAME&gt;&lt;/NAME&gt;&lt;/DOMAINNAME&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have my nis server i have access to that server via port 111.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But i hope that the nis domain name is wrong which is with me i know the server name.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;does some one know how to find domain name from nis server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;rpcinfo shows that all the services are ok.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any ideas how to find Domain NAme of a server thru port or any other utility.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My remote part is not available right now to get the info.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;pls advice&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sudhakar J</description>

      <description>You can not do this unless your using remsh, rexec or logged in locally.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;domain name browsing is insecure and belongs in Windows world.  NIS is already insecure so this functionality was never built in as it would be deemed suicide.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Shannon</description>

      <description>Ravi, i think it's:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# domainname (not domain)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sudhakar, check the /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs file and check for NIS_DOMAIN variable. That will tell you the current domainname set. Actually the command uses getdomainname() function call.</description>

      <description>If you read the question, he wants to know a way to do this remotely through the network, not locally.
