Yes, there is a patch to cure this. In the short term - kill the process and restart it.
It is a memory leak and the process will restart with a smaller amount of memory.

Hi,
I can see on my hpux11.00 N4000 server a process called mib2agt which appears to use a big amount of memory (47800 pages of r.memory and more than 512 Mb of virtual memory). Is this normal for a 4Gb memory system?
Can I stop/start mib2agt from init.d without problems? TIA.

You need to install PHSS_23670 to fix up the issue.

If you are not using snmp then you can do a
/sbin/init.d/snmpMib2 stop

Thanks
hello,

We had the same problem recently and applied the required patch.

I believe, you should rather install patch PHSS_26138 with description:
s700_800 11.X OV EMANATE14.2 Agent Consolidated Patch

this is the recommended one. (although the latest one is PHSS_27858)

Note that:
You should install the recommended patch if it meets your needs. If the recommended patch does not meet your needs, install the most recent patch.

Available at:
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?patchid=PHSS_26138&context=hpux:800:11:00

Regards
Yogeeraj
