Have you try to reset the SWC ? I've seen this behavior before and for me after I reset my SWC eveything was back to normal. The way to reset the SWC is you would press the RESET button on the unit and at the same time unplug the power to it. Then plug in the power cable and release the button. Do you get the same problem if you connect a dumb terminal to the console port (ie use physical console) ? If no then the problem is not related to GSP.
Hi. I have an L1000 with Secure Web Console attached. The machine was powered down for awhile, and I'm trying to clean the disks to return to the leasing company. I powered it up today, everything (including SWC) worked fine. I was in GSP when the console stopped responding. After restarting the machine, I can access the machine like normal via telnet and it's running fine. However, SWC is not. I can still login to the SWC itself, but when I choose the "Access console" option I get a blank black screen with no prompt, and no key presses have any effect.

I have tried shutting down the server and unplugging both the server and SWC for about 10 min, but still get the same thing. Any ideas on how to reset this?

Thanks for any help!

Andy

Hi Andy,
I am not sure if there is a GSP reset button in the back of of the L1000, I believe the resetting of GSP will solve the problem. I have seen this on N4000 and K class servers.

Hope this helps.

Enbin

I was faced with a blank swc screen not too long ago, and a colleague helped me to do:
On a windoze system -
Control Panel-> Internet Options->Advanced->Java
where I clicked off "Use Java 2 V1.4.0 for <APPLET>"

HTH</APPLET>

I would try one of the following tricks:

1) Hang a serial terminal off the box and see if that works any better.

2) Visually inspect the machine for lights and such. Next check the fans and try and get an idea what failed.

Your leasing company probably wants the box back in working condition.

To simply erase the drives put them in another L class box and run mediainit on them.

SEP
