Codewords are application specific.

P/N is product number. What is the description? Use the sliding bar and drag the pointer until the description column appears.

HP's keeper of codewords can be reached at this number:

1800-538-1733. They'll give you the basic training and provide you with additional codewords as you provide your system handle, server ID number, sales order number, P/N, its all good to keep around documented somewhere.

I am comming from a Solaris/Linux environment and am trying to immerse myself in HP-UX. Already done an HP-UX 11.0 install in the way I wanted it - minimalist paritioning, sensible LV naming (instead of lvol??), etc. to basically tune it to our Linux/Solaris standards. Now I am in the phase to install add-on software: MirrorDisk/UX and O-JFS. I was given the CodeWord sheet for which I succesfully generated the "codewords". I asked Application CD 1 of 4 mounted, fired up swinstall, it says it is P/N: 5012-1935, I added the customer_id and codeword but complains that there is no compatible software on this CD. Aside from the software codeword, is there another codeword specifically for the CD? I cannot verfy the CD as we're lights out..

Thanks!
If the software is codeword protected on Application CD's then

1 Obtain codeword from HP
2 Insert the cd and start swinstall
3. Choose the Local CDrom as the source
4. Tab to Actions > Add New Codeword
5. Select the software and mark for installation
6. Tab to Actions > Install

You should be having other license key for JFS

-USA..

The software for that particular codeword may well be on another of the CD's. I believe there is an index on the first CD which will tell you where each is located.

Pete

So you mean ASIDE from the codeword for O-JFS, there is another codeword for each of the application CDs? I am sure CD 1 contains O-JFS becuase TOC says so and swlist says so.
There are codewords for OnlineJFS which is part of the Enterprise Bundle or Mission Critical Bundle.

Mirror/UX is a codeword product.
Omniback is a codeword product.

How many codewords you need is based on how you purchased and licensed your product.

In the past we licensed product by product so had to enter codewords for all four products seperately.

So it depends on what you have licensed.

Time to make that phone call.

SEP
